This is some of the Arduino projects I'm playing with

  •

  • Multi Purpose Timer
    • A selectable timer that controls an output, and detects the battery voltage, that can be used as a Kontiki or irrigation winch controller
    • Feb 2012 ideas of using magnetic selection with Leds is based on Dec/Jan 2012 article on Kontiki timer, by Graeme Pedersen.
  • Spa Pool Controller
    • Software so far PoolController6.pde
    • Control part of software is sorted. Menu to change setting being worked on.
    • Dec 2011. Request to provide a simple version in the interim using a simple Pot and no RTC.
  • Hydroponics Controller
    • Still chasing a PH Probe at reasonable cost.
    • 25/6/11 Discussion suggests making software with ability to add a probe at a later date.
    • 19/10/11 Internet forums have provided a link to a cheap pH probe.
    • Feb 2012. On hold due to current negative publicity about illegal hydroponics.
  • Heat Transfer Controller
    • 23/6/11 DS1820 temp chips have arrived.
    • 5/7/11 Freetronics EtherTen controller and solid state relay purchased.
    • Hadleys code being modified and adapted to store data on SD Card, rather than a server.
    • Feb 2012. Freetronics site showed example of multiple sensors using the Analogue pins (http://www.freetronics.com/pages/online-thermometer)
  • RFID Cat Flap
    • Aerial design being undertaken to improve the read range.
    • 23/6/11 Ferrite rod and wire uplifted, start winding a new antenna.
    • Initial read range is good but pattern needs tweaking
    • 19/10/11 Additional Ferrite material arrived
    • Experiments with Ferrite is good, but really large antenna in poor.
  • Electric Fence Monitor
    • Device to monitor the voltage at various points.
    • Dec 2011 Solar fence lights obtained to house and power the project.
    • Jan 2013 DigiSpark units ordered which are smaller version of Arduino (http://digistump.com/#digispark)
  • Submersible Pump Controller
    • Controller for the submersible Pump...waiting on level detection.
  • Dash Lights Dimmer
    • Dash light dimmer that reduces the current through the dimmer pot, or uses buttons to set brightness.
    • 10/01/12 I have not included it in the hardware or software, since there few advantages at this point.
  • Balancing Robot
    • Large version using Wheelchair motor/wheel.
    • 80MHz Chipkit UNO Processor arrived, Initial motor controller board here...at last.
    • 2nd Controller board arrived...what a marathon.
  • AIS to Ethernet Converter
    • Automatic Identification System which converts serial to Ethernet could be good project to provide to the community.
  • Arduino to Ardunio controller
    • A system to pass inputs and outputs between two arduinos, using simple handshaking, over long distances.
    • Feb 2012 One arduino could be Ethernet controlled, which passes commands over RS485 or radio links.

This is some of the Arduino projects I've completed

  • WordClock
    • Project completed except for finished photo.
    • Wordclock article as featured in Dec/Jan 2012 issue of The Shed magazine (www.theshedmag.co.nz)
  • Variable Wiper control
    • Intelligent wiper control, based on an old discrete design.
    • 19/10/11 Hardware constructed.
    • 10/01/12 Code finished and write-up completed.
    • featured in April/May 2012 issue of The Shed magazine (www.theshedmag.co.nz)

  • Water Temperature Light
    • Device to make the idiot light for temperature into something more intelligent.
    • 05/05/12 Completed unit and code to combine both parts.
    • featured in June/July 2012 issue of The Shed magazine (www.theshedmag.co.nz)

  • 12v Electric Fan control
    • Using the same hardware to control an electric fan.
    • Sent Mr Gale home with one built on Freetronics Eleven to install and report back.
  • 300g Robot
    • Software using Nunchuk completed.  1/7/11 weapon capability added to software . Nunchuk_BOT.pde
    • New LiPo batteries purchased and weight is 305g.
    • Dec 2011. New Motor chips ordered along with a Modern Device Real Bare Bones Arduino. (http://shop.moderndevice.com/products/bbb-kit)
    • Motor chips installed and fired up. Full load testing not done, but have reverted to the old code.
    • See 300g BOT

  • Cat Apartment
    • Something to control an outdoor Cat Apartment,  inc night time detection, heating pad, cooling fan.
    • 23/6/11 waiting on some feedback.
    • featured in Dec12/Jan2013 issue of The Shed magazine (www.theshedmag.co.nz) as part of Arduino101
